Curatorial Essay & Exhibition Provenance

How can classical oil painting compete with moving digital screens in the age of technocracy? The solo exhibition 'People Traffic (Cilvēku satiksme)' at Digital Art House (Skolas iela 2) answered this question by placing Dags Vidulejs's monumental anthropomorphic canvases inside a darkened multimedia venue.

Lit individually against dark walls, paintings such as 'Globalisation / America Is Great Again' (210 × 630 cm triptych with silver leaf), 'Business Marathon', and 'Clones' revealed how homogeneous color masses and transfigurative lines create a kinetic optical energy that rivals cinema.
