The drawing from nature is made with charcoal and chalk. Charcoal drawing requires virtuosity because nothing can be changed. Each line must be in place, as the background structure of the gray transparent linen cannot be primed again. "Giselle" is a classical ballet theme. Only Dega and Toulouse-Lotrex drew a lot of ballet at the beginning of the last century. Dags spent his childhood in a ballet environment, as his father worked as a director of the Ballet Theater, while his mother, a musicologist, wrote reviews and books about ballet. Taking Dag’s daughter to ballet classes also had the opportunity to sketch a lot of ballerinas outside of performances. “Giselle” gray color fits and complements any interior.
