Curatorial Essay & Exhibition Provenance

Marking the centenary trajectory of surrealist thought and its 21st-century rebirth, Dags Vidulejs and Happy Art Museum teamed up with the Canadian artist group WXYZ to launch the 1st International Contemporary Surrealism Biennale at the Latvian Railway History Museum.

Within this international forum featuring artists from North America and Europe, works from the Divine Comedy cycle demonstrated how Dags Vidulejs's 'structural anthropomorphic contours' bridge Dantean allegory with contemporary neo-surrealism and metaphysical figuration.
